The first annual Roy Hargrove Jazz Camp 🔥 

From May 27–31 at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center in Dallas over 30 young musicians had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Roy’s music. Guiding them was none other than legendary bandleader Dean Hill—the very mentor who taught Roy when he was a kid. Supported by an outstanding team of instructors and guest teachers, the camp focused on everything from music theory and professional musicianship to the heart and soul required to truly play this music. And the students came to play! They brought their passion and dedication every day.
The week wrapped up with an inspiring student concert, featuring pieces they had worked on—including Roy’s iconic originals “Strasbourg/St. Denis” and “Brisket.”

We’re excited for this to be just the beginning. The goal is to make the camp an annual tradition and to offer ongoing learning opportunities throughout the year, empowering students to keep growing as musicians.
